String Wound Sediment Filter

String wound sediment filter cartridges are a type of depth filtration where high amounts of sediment can be filtered.  It is manufactured using a high speed, continuous wind process which creates a superior one-piece filter with hundreds of diamond shaped tunnels that get progressively smaller from the outer diameter to the core. Finer particles are progressively trapped as fluids travels to the center of the filter allowing for much greater retention capacity than that which is associated with straight surface filter media of the same dimensions and porosity.

Wound with textile fabric polypropylene string that has a loose outer layer and tight inner layer providing a high dirt holding capacity and low media migration ensuring temperature and chemical compatibility.

Filters are easily incinerated to traces of ash, making disposal simple and efficient.

Sediment filters are rated by a micron number.  A micron rating for a water filter is a way of indicating the ability of the filter to remove contaminants by the size of the particles. A filter that is marked “5 microns” has some capability in capturing particles as small as 5 microns. A micron is another measurement of a particle size. A micron is one-millionth of a meter or one twenty-five thousandth of an inch.

The most common sediment filters available are 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, and 100 micron filters. The micron number refers to the largest dirt particle that will pass through the filter.
